Learning in public

I study often, both out of personal interest but also to support my work at IBM. For my work at IBM, I’ve developed a practice where I externalize my study, typically via Slack posts, both so others can piggyback on my efforts as well as so that I can gain additional perspectives and suggestions for further study.

Recently I decided that I need to become more externally-oriented for both my learning and my sharing. To this end, I am going to attempt to occasionally “take notes in public” on some topic or media that I studied. It’s the same goal as externalizing my study with IBM, but in the public sphere. If you’re reading this, I hope you find it useful and I welcome your feedback.

Beyond just the notes themselves, I’ll describe why I was interested in the particular topic, how I came to find the relevant media, and potential implications of the ideas beyond what’s described in the media.

I’ll update this post with my list of notes.

All public notes
